Darlington Mowden Park U17s win Northern Bowl final
Mowden Park Colts played with heart until the final whistle to beat Wirral RFC 15-14 in the National U17 North of England Bowl Final.
Both teams offered an evenly matched game which showed in the tight score line.
Despite our Mowden Colts falling just short of the lead throughout the game, they continued to play in high spirits and in the 66th minute took their first lead.
After the regional semi final away at Liverpool Collegiate RFC being a forward dominated game, it seemed that on the return to Liverpool that it would be the backs turn to shine.
Johnstone and Hogg in the centers created the last score as they opened up the wing for Lanagan to scoop through past the defence and plant the ball over the try line.
After the try, Mowden sat with a nervous 14-13 score against them on the board.
Alasdair Cunningham stepped up to take the conversion from the left hand side and slotted it through the posts to all the DMP supporters delight.
Despite a few penalties being conceded by DMP before the whistle they held on to their one point lead to win the game 15-14.
Following the win, Mowden Colts will travel to Stourbridge on Sunday, April 9 to take on Sutton Coldfield RFC in the National Semi Final.
Best of luck lads!
