VISIT ONE – Referee Commitee Social Evening: Newton Aycliffe

This event came just three days after my honoured appointment as Durham County President and was therefore the first of what is sure to be many social outings as President.

As a kick starter, it set the bar as an enjoyable evening at my home of Newton Aycliffe with my Wife, Pauline and friends.

It is my aim to attend as many club events as possible through the 2017/18 season in order to show that the General Committee are interested in and support the clubs in their work and endeavours.

VISIT TWO – Billingham RUFC AGP opening with Jason Leonard OBE.

Billingham RUFC welcomed colts, women, men and families to their club house on Saturday, August, 19 for their official RFU 365 Artifical Grass Pitch opening with Jason Leonard OBE.

The colts 7s festival kick started the days events on the pitch with teams playing in a round robin format to give all teams game time.

Jason Leaonard, England’s most capped player then offically opened the pitch for Billingham RUFC before Durham County Women Development stepped out to play Yorkshire County Selects followed by Billingham XV v Otley RFC.

VISIT THREE – Newton Aycliffe V Sunderland RFC – County Junior Cup

Back on home turf I was warmly welcomed to watch Newton Aycliffe take on Sunderland RFC in the Junior Cup.

Sadly Aycliffe just missed out on their spot into round two as Sunderland secured a 26 – 15 victory!
