County U18 2016/2017 campaign

The U18s will play three fixtures to complete their 2016/2016 County campaign.

The side will look to grow from strength to strength as this season a number of last season’s U15s players have joined the team. Only seven players from last season’s U18s return this year but the team look set for a few seasons of consistency.

Durham v Cumbria U18s : November, 20 2016

The U18s had a dissappointing second game of the season against a dominant Lancashire to flip the tables of their previous performance.

The game away Tynedale saw Durham remain in the spirit of the game till the final whistle giving it all their energy. However, lack of finishing chances meant that they were to come away the losing side.

They will take on Cheshire in their final test where they will look to bounce back.

Durham v Cheshire U18s: December, 4 2016

Durham took on Cheshire at Vale of Lune RFC where the North East girls dominated the majority of play until the final moments where Cheshire tallied some points again the side.

Regardless of three unanswered tries for Cheshire, it seemed Durham and their six tries were too much for the side.

A positive way to close of the 2016/17 County campaign for the girls.

Durham County 2015/2016 season

County U18 Girls put up a fighting display against Northumberland

Due to the number of matches called off before Christmas, County Durham Girls arranged a fixture against Northumberland on the all-weather pitch at Druid Park. It is a testament to the growing strength of Girls rugby in Durham that the Under 18s could put on a such a creditable performance despite fielding an unfamiliar line-up in the backs due to unavailability on a cold afternoon  see match report
