Durham U15 Girls V Yorkshire U15 Girls: 0 – 34 Loss

Durham County U15 Girls lose out 34- 0 to a stronger Yorkshire side in their opening game.

U15 Girls Coach, Robin Scott said: ” It was an excellent performance by our U15s girls today.

“Yorkshire have put 70 points on teams, last year and I think the score line of 34, flattered them a bit.

“We have lots to work but it is still a big well done to everyone involved.”

Girl of the game was awarded to Megan for “outstanding footwork and for putting her body on the line with some fantastic tackling in defence”.

Durham made the short journey north to Tynedale to play Northumberland in their second game of their 2017/18 campaign. The visitors set the standard early taking the lead and held off a fighting side in the second half to secure a 30 – 20 victory.

U15 Girls Coach, Robin Scott commented on the game saying: “It was a fantastic win for the U15 girls.

“We played some outstanding attacking rugby allowing us to lead by six ries to one at half time.

“Northumberland came back into the game in the second half but the girls defended well and kept their cool to run out worthy winners.

Well done to each of the girls that pulled on the County jersey and wore it with pride.

Durham County Girl of the game was awarded to April for a “blistering hat trick in attack and some strong defence”.
